What is Detox?

Detox Wooden Letterpress Concept

The word "DETOX" written in vintage wooden letterpress type.

You’ve definitely heard the term “detox” thrown around, but have you ever known what it actually means?

There are a number of different types of medical detoxification, including detox from alcohol and opioids. When one requires a drug detox, the individual’s drug intake is stopped fairy abruptly. Then, the individual is given medication that tempers the less severe symptoms and prevents the more dangerous symptoms before they arise.

At Compass Detox, the program starts with an evaluation. During this time, we check the patient’s vital signs and determine the amount of medicine which he or she will require. The dosage will then be reduced significantly each day and in many cases, by the end of five days, the patient will be completely detoxed from alcohol.

In order to detox from opioids, our approach is to replace the illicit opioids with prescribed opioid medications. Then, we maintain the patients on the medications while we work together on stabilizing his or her recovery.

If you or someone you love may be suffering from an addiction, don’t hesitate to call for help today. Get the recovery process started to build a new successful life!
